Secret Pal 7 Reveal & Mabel (Pt1)

I've been waiting for my SP to receive her final package before revealing all.

I've found myself to have been spoilt by Erin and I have been spoiling Jen aka Disentangled. I've really enjoyed myself on this round especially with all the wonderful parcels I received and I hope that those I sent were as equally nice.

Now regards Mabel (this will mean something to those SkipNorthing people) she is now firmly entrenched in my bedroom awaiting some attention.

Shawl Progress

Here is the shawl to date. I am now on row 85 of a 178 row pattern. I am probably not spending as much time on it as I should but soon to have more time on my hands as I resigned from my current last week. I had a finish date of 5 May which I was then persuaded to extend to 2 June which was agreed with my manager. I then had a meeting with my manager today who told me that I was to be held to the original leave date of 5 May. While I am not overly concerned as I have a temp job lined up to start on the Monday it is just so enlightening to find out what your manager really thinks about you!

The Great Escape

Okay so there is obviously something in the air about rodent escapes. I was just sat at my PC and saw a white shape run across the floor. In the normal course of events I would have assumed it was a mouse but as Lara was running around thought it highly unlikely as she would have pounced. I then happened to glimpse over at the gerbil rotastak and notice that the u-bend tube that links two of the levels together was not there!

I then notice that the white mouse I saw running around was Titch the Gerbil who had decided to go a wandering. I then moved pretty quickly and grabbed him (or should I say he decided to run up my arm into my sleeve). After putting him in his rollaround ball while I reaffixed the link I got him back into his cage. Here is a picture of the little rascal about to munch on a dried cranberry:

Birmingham - Day Four

Okay I know that this one is out of sequence but I've only just got round to it and if I do post it in sequence then nobody will ever know it existed!

Well most definitely by day four I had mentally lost it more than normal but I did manage to soothe myself with some purchases. First of all somebody had mentioned that they had these at Taj Yarns so I raced over and got a set.

I am working on the shawl using these although my SP7 did mention that they are not any good for lace work. Has anybody any experience of this at all?

Next up on the shopping spree I bought a handful of Clover goodies:

First thing in the morning though I decided to move over into the other hall and hobknob with the celebrities. I got their badge and also a dedicated signed photo for MM who was speechless at its arrival

The final day did eventually come to a close but in order to keep us going our leader started cheering us on.

Shawl Update

Here we have the fibre trends shawl that I am working on at the moment at its latest stage. Due to the dental stuff on Thursday I just haven't felt up to doing anything knitting wise although I am on row 59 at the moment of a (I think) 178 row shawl which doesnt include all the edgings. I am enjoying it but am finding I have to concentrate more than normal but I am tending to read a line or so below on the pattern so I think I am going to get one of the orienteering map bags where you have a plastic cover that you can write on and wipe off again.

A Day From.....

IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH AND CAN'T TAKE THE THOUGHT OF PAIN PLEASE DON'T READ ON.

I've had a bout of toothache all week. I rang the dentist yesterday morning about it as it was in the same spot as about six weeks back. I had mentioned it to him as it had happened a week before I went to see him but as always had disappeared when I got to him for my routine check up. Anyway I was told to ring up first thing this morning and I would be slotted in as an emergency appointment. I got there and after x-rays told me that the nerve in the tooth was dying and tooth would have to come up. After numbing me up he started to extract it. Unfortunately though it wasnt numb enough and after much effort was only able to remove half of it. I am now on antibiotics and pain killers big enough to knock out half of Dumbo's family!!!

I took to the bed earlier as well for a duvet hour. Anyone who knows me knows that I have to be really rough to hit the bed but I must say that it is at times like this that you do discover who your friends in the real world actually are (I dont mean those out there reading the blog either!).

The upside of this though is that I don't have teeth like Dracula - well could you imagine.

Well finally I've managed to find the time in between work and shows to post regarding final pressies from my Secret Pal.

Here is some of them together:

First of all there is this nice teapot and cups and what I believe is the tray.

Then I have these two balls of boucle-type green yarn.

Along with this nice three-shaded blue candle and wonderfully embroidered photo-album.

Next in the list we have Seamus:

Followed close behind by :

Two skeins of koigu

and then finally a skein of Fyberspates in October shading.

Many thanks for all of this SP you've really really spoilt me.
